The experimental evacuation platoon of one of the military mobile hospitals had to perform their first battle mission after Ukrainian detachments near the town of Popasna in Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine came under Russia-backed militants’ fire, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informs.
That was the combat debut of the newly-organized Special Medical Forces. The military doctors’ actions proved that they are ready to perform the tasks assigned.
Jointly with head of the mechanized brigade’s medical service, the evacuation platoon has put all efforts possible to evacuate the wounded to the medical facilities as soon as possible. The wounded soldiers got all the necessary treatment.
According to the surgeon, who performed operative treatment, the high-quality first aid has been provided in time. The newly-created platoon performed its duties on a highest level, having saved lives of the wounded Ukrainian servicemen.
It should be reminded that according to the Armed Forces’ program on medical service development up to the year 2020, approved by the Defense Ministry, an experimental medical evacuation platoon has been created based on the 65th military field hospital. It operates according to the latest NATO standards.
18 evacuation crews employing «Bogdan 2251» vehicles have been created as well. The crews consist of a senior military doctor, combat doctor, and a medical aidman-driver. All the crews operate along the front line in the Joint Forces’ operation area. They work on a territorial basis and evacuate the wounded from their areas of responsibility.
